Esenyurt: The Prestigious Residential District in Istanbul

Esenyurt: The Prestigious Residential District in Istanbul

Established in the early 19th century, Esenyurt was initially planned on the grounds of a vast farm owned by Ekrem Ömer Paşa. In the period between 1920 to 1938, Romans and Bulgarian migrated to the central regions and settled in its northern part. In 1967, the name “Esenyurt” was adopted from the words Esen meaning happy or healthy, and Yurt meaning home, altogether signifying a healthy and happy home.

With the construction boom of premium and mega residential projects in the last few years, Esenyurt has significantly benefited from premium real estate development and expansions. It has become a popular residential area among Turkish and foreign nationals due to the affordable budget constraints and property prices as compared to the Istanbul city center.

Geography and population

Esenyurt is located on the European side of Istanbul and spans a total area of 2770 square kilometers. It borders with Büyükçekmece on the west, Avcılar and Lake Küçükçekmece on the east,  Beylikdüzü and E-5 motorway on the south, and Arnavutköy, Başakşehir, and TEM road on the north. With a total population of 891,120, Esenyurt is the most prestigious and populous area of Istanbul offering a stream of recreational and standard-living opportunities to residents.

In terms of transportation, Esenyurt has multiple conveyance alternatives and has easy connectivity to other districts of the city. Metro routes offer seamless access to neighborhoods and major destinations. Other modes of public transport such as buses, taxis, and mini-buses are functional throughout the year and provide hassle-free services to residents at nominal fares.

Esenyurt is attracting huge scale of capital investments, particularly in the transportation and real estate sector. The development is formulated to take place primarily near the TEM and D100 highways and its associated roads, thereby paving the way for new real estate developments.
