How were the Palestinians able to own real estate in Turkey?
The Land Registry Department in Turkey issued a law in 2019 that allows Palestinians who hold Lebanese or Syrian documents to own property in Turkey. Palestinian refugees can use the travel document issued by the country in which they reside to travel to Turkey, and then own real estate in Turkey.
However, this law placed a restriction, as it was stipulated to accept this transaction that the holder of the Palestinian document had previously obtained a residence permit from the Immigration Department before he was allowed to purchase a property and register his ownership.
It is worth noting that, before the issuance of this law, Palestinians could not own property in Turkey and obtain the title deed except through the existence of several conditions such as having residency as well as bringing proof of nationality from the country of residence or Palestinian embassies and consulates.

The new law concerning Palestinians’ real estate ownership in Turkey
A short time ago, the Turkish government amended the Palestinian real estate ownership law in Turkey. It provided them with the opportunity to own real estate and obtain the title deed from the Land Registry Directorate in Turkey without restrictions as before, such as having a residence permit or requesting nationality proof.
The decision includes holders of travel documents and temporary Jordanian passports. Under this decision, Palestinians are entitled to obtain Turkish citizenship when owning a property in Turkey, just like all foreign investors.

Do Palestinians obtain a real estate residence permit in Turkey?
Under the new law, holders of Palestinian nationality, residents of other countries, and holders of temporary documents and passports will be able to own real estate in Turkey. Then apply for the real estate residence permit directly after registering the property in the Land Registry Directorate in Turkey, regardless of the property’s value.
Do Palestinians obtain Turkish citizenship by investment?
After the issuance of the new legal amendments of Palestinians’ real estate ownership in Turkey, it became possible for all Palestinians and holders of temporary documents to own a property in Turkey. Also, if they own real estate at an amount equivalent to $ 250,000, they can apply for obtaining Turkish citizenship by investment. After fulfilling all the conditions of the Turkish naturalization law and submitting all the needed papers, they should wait for about 90 days. Then they officially become Turkish citizens.
